November In My Kitchen
Hello November! It's hard to believe there are only 2 months left of 2021. Two more pension checks, 53 days until Christmas, two weeks until we head out for our Thanksgiving camping trip. Yikes.
Let's get right to the meager offerings I have for the In My Kitchen event. Also, sending good wishes to Sherry and hope her broken ribs are on the mend. Thinking of you, Sherry!
In the kitchen / I have had luck with the recipes of Tieghan Gerrad of Half Baked Harvest lately. Chicken, Pancetta and Mushroom stew and several more recipes to try soon.
I'm still baking bread. Baguette is our favorite.
Sipping / I transitioned from whites to reds as I am a seasonal sipper. I try any unoaked Chardonnay I see and this one is not only inexpensive it's tasty. A Kendall Jackson brand. But the rest of the whites and a single Rose sits in the wine cooler awaiting warmer temperatures.
This Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon is now one of my favorite reds. It's hearty and smooth. Perfect for the cooler evenings.
That's it for me right now. I hope you are happy and healthy and look forward to seeing what's in your kitchen this month.
Sweets from World Market - a sleeve of Hit cookies. Great with coffee.
This time of year World Market gets tiny mince pies in and we always get a box. For whatever reason mince isn't always readily available around here so I go the store bought route. We loved these when we visited Ireland at Christmas time decades ago.
A new crossword book. That's cheap entertainment for me. Usually I read on my Kindle if I am in the kitchen just stirring or checking on things but occasionally I like to fiddle with a crossword puzzle.
Is it a soft shell taco or fajita wrap? Either way, it was great with seasoned beef strips and loads of onions, peppers and sour cream. Great lunch "sandwich."
