Sunday Salon {Books, Loki, Picadillo and Camping}

Happy Sunday! It's 66 degrees and partly cloudy in North Florida as I write. No big plans today except to bake some bread and walk a bit.  It's Sunday Salon catch-up time :-)

Books / Presently I am reading A Bit about Britain's History by Mike Biles. It's a great book and I can recommend it for anyone interested in the historical development of Britain. Trust me, it's not dry historical reporting, very engaging reading.

Behold my reading buddy here.  We sat outside yesterday as it was sunny.

My library loot was much more than I intended to pick up and I have now reached a conclusion that I need to read what is in the house.  Ha, we will see if I hold fast to that resolution. All my holds came in at once...why does that happen?

The Dogs with Jobs book and Code Girls are next as I can renew the Paul McCartney bio.  Also trying a new author Tarryn Fisher for the fiction The Wrong Family.

The Loki Chronicles / This little boy is a real can or worms. Long story short, we are keeping him.  If you hadn't read about our early experiences with him you won't know why that was a question at all - the keeping him part.

Today marks 17 days we've had him. The improvement is remarkable. He's now an affectionate fellow who plays and has has zero accidents inside.  While he was a snarling devil dog to all our friends & their dogs he is now socializing. We have had him at the park and he's getting along well now.  So far, so good!

For the record, he was advertised as crate trained.  That's big fat no on that one.  We kenneled him in a very roomy crate with towels when we went shopping.  We were gone one hour and he destroyed the bottom of the kennel.  That big hard plastic liner that's in the bottom...he shredded it.  Good thing he didn't cut himself.  If we leave him alone we've found he doesn't tear anything up so that's what we will do from now on.

Food / Not too much new going on here but I did make Chicken Chasseur as I had a few chicken thighs in the fridge.  The recipe is in the link from a post I did ages ago.

In the next week or so I would like to make picadillo again and use some leftovers for Patatas Rellenas.  My sister-in-law gave me the best recipe for picadillo and when we were able to visit them two years ago (that's too long ago!) we went to a restaurant serving the Patatas Rellenas.  It was a fabulous potato meal, stuffed with picadillo.  I'll use the recipe from this book, Clarita's Kitchen.

Next week we are camping at Stephen Foster Cultural Park, hope the weather is good.

That's it for this week. I hope all is well in your world and you and yours are safe and healthy.  Be careful out there!
